Art Matters believes in the power of art and creativity across the curriculum. We work together as a network of primary and secondary teachers to share creative practice to support young people in developing their creativity.
At the end of each academic year, the Art Matters network curates an annual exhibition which celebrates artwork by young people from East London including those in our primary and secondary teacher’s network.
The exhibition regularly features artworks from over 4000 artworks from 50 schools and colleges and is the largest of its kind in the UK. It began in 1998 and has run annually every Summer since then with the exceptions of the 2012 Olympic year when the Newham academic year was shortened by three weeks and 2020 Summer as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic.
Art Matters is supported by University of the Arts London and the University of East London.
